Range of Light Sierra Club Tours, Outings, Hikes, Clean Ups

Below is an overview of the events and outings Sierra Club Range of Light Group will be hosting in September. Pre-registration is required. Group size may be limited.
  • Long Valley Exploratory Drilling Project Site Tour
    Saturday, September 18, 9am – Noon
    Are you concerned about the potential exploratory drilling project at Hot Creek in Long Valley? Join us at the site and see first hand everything we need to protect. We’ll meet at the Hot Creek Geologic Site for the view from that vantage point and then drive to Blue Chert Hill, and then further down Clay Pit Cutoff. Any vehicle should be able to make it as long as the driver is okay driving on a non-graded section of F.S. Road 3S07.   • Virtual Eastern Sierra Volunteer Overview
    Tuesday, September 21st, 6:30pm – 8:00pm
    Are you passionate about Eastern Sierra public lands, water, wildlife, and outings, and want to get involved? Join us to meet other like minded people and find the perfect way for you to be part of the Sierra Club. This event is for those that live in the Eastern Sierra to deepen our relationships with one another and work together to protect our local natural treasures.   • CalTrans Adopt-a-Highway Route 395 Cleanup
    Saturday, September 25, 8am – 11am
    It’s time to gear up again for our final CALTRANS Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup! Please join us on our assigned 2-mile section of Route 395, north of Mammoth Lakes, CA. We will meet at the Crestview Rest Area on Highway 395, approximately 5 miles north of Mammoth Lakes, at 8AM.   • Duck Pass Hike from Coldwater Campground
    Sunday, September 26, 9am – 3pm
    Please join us on a leisurely moderate hike to spectacular Duck Pass! En route we will pass Skelton and beautiful turquoise Barney Lake. The trail begins with moderately steep switchbacks, then mostly levels off to Skelton Lake. From there, we continue to climb to a height of land and down to Barney Lake. After crossing the brook on a short log or on rocks, we make the final switchbacked climb to the pass, where we will enjoy views of Duck and Pika Lakes beyond. Please register at https://www.sierraclub.org/toiyabe/range-light/events or contact wils.cain@sierraclub.org.
